Zulum's 1000 Houses at Mafa at Advance Stage

The 1000 housing estate embarked upon by Borno state Governor Professor Babagana Umara Zulum at Mafa Local Government, a 30-minute drive east of Maiduguri has progressed rapidly.

The estate, is one of many others that are currently being constructed in many other parts of the state.

During an inspection tour recently, the Governor expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of work. He noted that the mass housing policy of his government was geared towards providing alternative shelter to the people in order to make governance meaningful to the citizenry. 

A decade old insurgency has brought about ruin to infrastructure in Borno State and shelter for the people was one area where government needed to step in, in order to fill a yawning gap and reduce the affect on the people of the state. 

While the Professor Zulum's administration is currently working tirelssly at providing palliatives, livelihoods, schools, agricultural inputs and other critical lifelines in order to fully resettle displaced persons back to their ancestral towns, huge investment in mass housing policies would help greatly in providing alternative shelter to people who have no homes to return to.
