Online Scams Falsely Linked to Senator Shettima

 

ONLINE SCAMS ILLEGALLY LINKED WITH SENATOR KASHIM SHETTIMA

...Note of caution to the general public

The attention of Senator Kashim Shettima, immediate past Governor of Borno state has been drawn to the growing proliferation of online platforms whose activities are being  linked to the Senator and whose intent, to any discerning and observant mind, was to clearly dupe unsuspecting members of the public. 

Although it has never been in the character of the public spirited former Governor to be quick at joining issues on flimsy and criminal intentioned matters or going public on such mundane acts which rubs him in, so as not to cause unnecessary panic, the ongoing desperation by criminally-minded fraudsters to cash in on the Senator's popularity in order to defraud the public, has left him with no option than to step in with a disclaimer to alert the people who may likely fall victims of these fraudulent antics. 

The general public should note that several similar attempts have, in the last few years, been made, using many pseudo platforms on facebook, instagram, twitter and others, all of them linking their illegal activities to Senator Kashim Shettima, ostensibly to curry public sentiment and thereafter scam people of their hard-earned money.

The current subsisting attempt, on Facebook which goes by the name "Fingertip Wallet" had the picture of Kashim Shettima conspicuously embossed with very mouth-watering offers of business deals that could fetch victims stupendous quick returns on cash deposits or investments. 

The rather clumsy enterprise should ordinarily have raised a curious person's alarm, but with the way many such laughable offers have rammed with some people who have fallen victims and have thus lost their money, it has become imperative to issue this rebuttal and to  make it abundantly clear that the Senator has nothing to do with either Fingertip Wallet or any similar fraudulent platform, at any time in the past or at the moment or at any other time in the future. 

Senator Kashim Shettima has no doubt been in the forefront of countless pro-people projects long before he became Governor and much more when he became Governor and therefore had institutional back up to launch several intervention programs which directed efforts at making life worth living for vulnerable and other needy persons. Even when he has ceased to be Governor, he has continued to, at his personal level and as a Senator of the Federal Republic, impacted on many peoples' lives through a number personal initiatives and other frameworks. As everybody must have observed however, non of these interventions has been done through third parties or in such clandestine fraudulent manners as to demand cash deposits from people. 

It is on this note that this statement was issued in order to highlight the pedestrian and criminal intent of such criminal online activities and to dissociate the distinguished Senator from them. People should be wiser and more probing in order not to fall victims of such over-repeated style of scamming people by lazy, criminally minded and jobless 419ners who have nothing doing other than to take, through subterfuges, from hard working but vulnerable Nigerians.

The former Borno state Governor will continue to, regardless of the challenges posed to well-intentioned leaders and the risk of criminals taking advantage of their gestures, push for more intervention projects, at his personal level and at official level in his capacity as as a federal law to make life easier for the Nigerian people.
