Borno to Get a Gas Powered Power Plant as NNPC Delegation Visits Zulum
Borno state governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum on Friday recieved a High-powered
delegation from the NNPC led by it's GMD, Mele Kyari alongside other partners such as, Greensville gas suppliers, Genesis and Quest Energy.
Kyari disclosed that the visit was meant to support the government and people of Borno by setting up a power plant in Maiduguri with the collaboration with the state government.
"President Muhammadu Buhari had declared the next ten years to be gas power years In Nigeria. As such, power plants are to be set up to enable power stability in Maiduguri and its environs.
Emergency power stabilization and improvement project (MEPP) has been initiated and when given the opportunity can set up the plant within 3-4 months which would supply Borno and neigbouring states with power," he said.
In his remarks, Governor Zulum appreciated the NNPC by commending the GMD for his ressilience since assumption into office cutting across all the geo - political zones of the country.
The governor further assured that, Borno State Government is ready to work towards the provison of leadership and all neccessities to enable the smooth kick off, development, implementaion and actualisation of this nobel Project.
He also annouced the Introduction of compressed Natural gas (CNG) engines in Maiduguri to replace the LPG within 6 months.
