Outcome of the State Executive Council Meeting Held on Tuesday 24th August 2021


Preamble

The State Executive Council met today Tuesday 24th August 2021 under the chairmanship of His Excellency, Governor Mai Mala Buni (Chiroman Gujba) and deliberated on many issues that affect the welfare and wellbeing of the people of the state.


His Excellency Governor Mai Mala Buni commended members of the Council for their individual and collective effort at ensuring the smooth functioning of the government and the delivery of social services to the people.


The Council-in-Session approved and ratified many projects and services to the tune of N7, 022, 754, 651.11. These include:


1. Approval of the sum of N1, 202, 406, 208.99 for the supply of medical equipment and furniture for the Medical College of the Yobe State University and the procurement of electronic medical records and the training of staff at the Yobe State University Teaching Hospital (YSUTH), and the specialist hospitals in Damaturu, Potiskum, and Gashu’a.

2.  The Council also ratified the sum of N327, 140, 666.27 for the construction of 200-bed capacity isolation center and a one-storey building consisting of 30 room apartment House Officers’ Quarters at the Yobe State University Teaching Hospital. 

3. Also, the sum of N278, 591, 277.03 was ratified for the remodeling and conversion of the three-star hotel, Damaturu into the Clinical Section of the Yobe State University Teaching Hospital. This amount also covers the supply of furniture for use in the clinical section.

4.  The State Executive Council has also approved the sum of N1, 711, 980, 083.27 for additional works on the construction of 25.5 kilometer dual-carriage way from Damaturu to Kalallawa Village where the Damaturu International Cargo Airport is located.

5. Also approved is the sum of N288, 998, 270.00 for the construction of 1.5-kilometre road and 3.0-kilometre concrete drains through direct labor at the Dr. Shehu Sule College of Nursing and Midwifery, Damaturu.

6. Similarly, the sum of N169, 041, 071.35 was approved for the rehabilitation of Kaliyari-Bayamari road through direct labor as well as the rehabilitation of the Jakusko-Garin Alkali Road at the cost of N219, 698, 226.92

7. The State Executive Council has also ratified the sum of N145, 648, 719.88 for the procurement of additional equipment and gear for the synchronization and digitization of the Yobe Radio FM/AM services.

8. In addition to the above spending, Council has also ratified the sum of N765, 000, 000.00 for the procurement of 20 units of Toyota Land Cruiser V6 Vehicles for vigilante groups in the state to facilitate their security patrols and movement.

9. The State Executive Council has also approved the sum of N688, 617, 273.06 for the procurement and installation of runway lighting system at the Damaturu International Cargo Airport.

10. Council has also approved the sum of N1, 225, 632, 904.34 for revised additional works on the Nguru Modern Market project. 

11. The total amount approved and ratified by the Council stands at N7, 022, 754, 651.11

12. Also the Council has approved the change of name of the Ministry of Higher Education to the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology. 

13. Lastly, the State Executive Council has approved a new logo for the State. It will be used in offices and official communications throughout the state government. The logo represents the history, culture, and socio-economic outlook of the state. It will be unveiled at a later date.
