Nigeria needs honest, transparent leaders like you, APC National Chairman tells Engineer Sule
Vows to lead re-election bid as Governor returns N20m unspent balance
The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Abdullahi Adamu, has said that Nigeria needs honest and transparent leaders like Nasarawa State Governor, Engineer Abdullahi Sule, who are willing to discharge their responsibilities while being accountable.
The APC National Chairman stated shortly after receiving the report of the media subcommittee of the 2022 special national convention for the presidential primary election, chaired by Engineer Sule, at the national secretariat of the party, in Abuja, on Friday.
During the presentation of the media subcommittee report, Engineer Sule presented alongside the report, a draft in the sum of N20m as unspent balance of the total sum of money allocated to the community to facilitate the discharge of its responsibilities.
Commenting on the gesture, Senator Adamu described it as uncommon, adding that, knowing who the person of the Governor and what he is doing, it's with the same spirit he demonstrated while chairing the committee that he is bringing to bear in administering Nasarawa State.
A very elated Senator Adamu vows to vacate his office after superintending the presidential and national assembly elections, to return to Nasarawa State to lead Engineer Sule reelection bid.
"By the time we are done with the presidential election on the 25th of February, the senate and House of Representatives elections, I will leave this office, I will come to the state and I will lead your campaign for your re-election.
"Because this is the character we need in our leaders, honesty, transparency and doing what you are asked to do and giving account of what you have done," he stated.
While commending the media and publicity committee under the chairmanship of Governor Sule for carrying out their responsibilities creditably, the APC National Chairman, noted that the special nomination convention held in June proved the prophets of doom who thought the APC would implode wrong.
"We are proud of the performance of the publicity committee and we thank God almighty that in the face of the pessimists who thought that convention was to be the last for the APC, prophets of doom were put to shame," he said.
Senator Adamu said the party had one of the most successful convention this country ever witnessed.
"Most parties before now simply explode during nomination conventions. And that was what made people to think there were enough problems in the APC and we may likely go the way of those that failed before us," he added.
The APC National Chairman used the opportunity of the visit to appreciate Engineer Sule and his Ogun State counterpart, for their effort to refurbish his office shortly after he was inaugurated.
Earlier, while presenting the report of his committee, Engineer Sule submitted to the National Chairman, a draft for N20m as balance of the N140 total sum of money allocated to the committee for the purpose of discharging its responsibilities.
Engineer Sule said the committee is submitting a complete report about its various activities of during the convention that led to the success the party recorded.
He also used the opportunity to congratulate the National Chairman, the National Working Committee (NWC), as well as the party, on the successful and peaceful nature of the convention that produced Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu as the presidential candidate of the APC.
The media subcommittee was inaugurated on June 5, 2022 and has 56 members drawn from across the country.
Some of the members of the committee include the Minister of Information, Alhaji Lai Mohammed as Deputy Chairman, Chief Femi Kayode, Senator Abiola Bashir, Senator Bamidele Opeyemi, Yakubu Mohammed, Osita Okechukwu and Hajiya Hannatu Musa Musawa.
